Everyday Ways We Use Essential Oils

Lavender on its own makes a wonderful muscle pain reliever. Apply 1-2 drops "neat" (not diluted) to aching joint/muscles. This is Mike's go-to for lower-back pain after a long work day.

Lavender is also a great insect repellent so we add it to our DIY bug spray. It repels mosquitoes, moths, flies, and is also soothing for calming the itch/sting of bug bites if you get one!

It also helps us get a calming, restful sleep so we often diffuse 4-5 drops of Lavender at night or spray our pillows with our Lavender-infused DIY spray. Also great for hair health, & is in mermaid hair recipes.

Stress Away

Stress Away does just that. It takes the stress away when you inhale it or use topically!

It's a Young Living Blend of Lime, Cedarwood, Lavender, Copaiba, vanilla fruit extract, and Ocotea leaf essential oils. A friend recently purchased a Stress Away roller-ball bottle and after a camping trip she told us it works well on itchy bug bites. Lavender is soothing for bug bites and Copaiba is great for anything skin related!

Stress Away can help induce relaxation and reduce occasional nervous tension. We use this blend "neat" on our skin, in an epsom salt bath, and lots of our market customers love having it in a nasal inhaler.

When our young rescue puppy was anxious even after exercise, we used 1-2 drops of Stress Away brushed into her fur to help her feel less on edge. Diffusing Stress Away also helps her calm down on days she's extra hyper.

The Stress Away blend is a Reg'd NHP with Health Canada and helps combat irritation and exhaustion throughout the day. We also like to use it to unwind before bed and often use this in the diffuser at night to help with relaxation to get a good sleep and wake up relaxed.

Black Pepper

Mike uses Black Pepper essential oil daily in his FUM. He quit smoking cigars in March 2019 after decades of cigar & cigarette use and he has noticed a decrease in his chronic pain.

Go to our FUM page for more information on Black Pepper essential oil and what the FUM inhaler can do for you!

Epsom Salts & Face Creams

Jo loves making all kinds of personal care products. Citrus Fresh is one of our favourites in the diffuser for a whole-home "clean" smell, as well as in Epsom Salts for a refreshing scent while soaking in the benefits of magnesium.

We use every last drop of our oil bottles by removing the droppers and turning the bottles upside down in a jar of epsom salts overnight.

Jo also loves making DIY deodorant paste, night cream with Lemon for all kinds of skin enhancing, skin softening effects. (Lemon will make your skin extra sensitive to the sun so don't use that one on exposed skin in the daytime!)

NLBS and NingXia Red

2 more of Mike's favourites are "his" Northern Lights Black Spruce (NLBS) and NingXia Red.

We've got an entire page on this site devoted to explaining this wonderful health drink so please take a look if you haven't already!

We drink NingXia Red every single day, and Mike loves using NLBS as a personal scent...he discovered when wearing this oil that it also repels house flies. :) NLBS is a lovely oil for promoting feelings of calming & grounding.  Got a little one having a tantrum? A drop or two on the crown of the head, or applied to wrists and behind the neck using a roll-on settles everyone down nicely.  It's also a great night-time oil in the diffuser to promote a peaceful sleep.

Northern Lights Black Spruce comes from Young Living's own farm in Fort Nelson, BC. The trees are grown and harvested under the energy of the dancing auroras, which is believed to be what gives this oil its high vibrational frequency! NLBS comes with the NingXia Red premium starter kit too!

If you are curious about the frequencies of essential oils, we would love to talk to you more about it! Studies conducted by Eastern Washington University and using a Calibrated Frequency Monitor (CFM) developed by Taino Technology showed the measurable influence essential oils had on the body, specifically focusing on Young Living. Essential oils have the highest frequencies of any measured natural substance. These frequencies in the oils can help raise your body's frequency when you use them, which can help to keep you "above the wellness line."

We use all of these products (and more) regularly and can talk about them all day! (lol)

Envision and Valor II

Envision came with us on our July 2019 month-long trip to Nicaragua. It's an amazing blend used for goal setting, dream chasing, and visualization, but also has AMAZING health benefits because of the SIX very special oils in it. We recommend applying 1-2 drops each day topically to your neck and wrists, and diffusing it when you're working on an important project or creating your vision board!

Read more about Envision here.

Both Envision and Valor II were along for our wild ride this summer when we went on short notice to our Caribbean vacation property.

Valor II quickly became what we called our "oil to use so we don't freak out." Missed flights and highly charged emotional situations, this oil delivered exceptional results when we needed it most.

Read more about our experience with Valor II here, as well as what other oils we used in Nicaragua!

We recommend Young Living oils because we know they work. It's just that simple.

Cut the paper towel roll in half with a knife and set it inside the container.

In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of water, 2 capfuls of Thieves Household Cleaner, and 10 drops of Thieves essential oil. Pour the mixture over the paper towel roll but avoid the inner core (because you'll be removing it and don't want to waste the liquid!).

Best Places to Apply EOs

It's Young Living's version of "head & shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes, knees and toes.."

Using essential oils topically is one of the most popular ways to utilize their benefits in your everyday life. Have you ever wondered, “Where should I apply this essential oil?” The answer is different for everyone, because we each have different physical and emotional needs, and all of our bodies are genetically and chemically different.

This guide features some simple application points for essential oils. Young Living recommends diluting your essential oil with V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or a carrier oil before topical application if you are new to essential oils, have sensitive skin, or are applying on children.
